Continued assurance of standard Islamic education in its non-secular environment is the fervent expedition of the Lekki Muslim Ummah [LEMU]. Over the years, it has strived not only to uphold the subsistence of standard Islamic education but also to bridge the gap between Islamic education and western education in a well-absorbing curriculum in its established schools

Hence, to ensure perpetual accomplishment with this marvelous quest, the trustees of Lekki Muslim Ummah in liaison with TrustArthur – a fund/portfolio management company, aim to project the schools’ needs to the Muslim Ummah across the country; to help this exceptional academic institution; and remain a going concern.

The institution currently needs tremendous rehabilitation and maintenance. To meet up with global standards, the school needs education enhancement facilities like projectors for learning; a computer system for classrooms; decent wooden beds and wardrobes for the hostel; kitchen cupboards; installation of solar panels and inverters; and other constant operating cost.

Against this backdrop, LEMU seeks the sum of 20 million Naira annual waqf (endowment) from well-wishers in Nigeria and across the globe to improve these facilities, procure equipment, and maintain its annual operational cost.

The president of LEMU, Dr. Sola Labinjo, believes that the need to provide an international standard Islamic educational institution is premised on the current evolution of the education system birthing well-refined scholars, renowned economists, and major key players in the global society. Hence, it is an added advantage that the produced individuals are well-oriented with vast knowledge and deep-rooted ethics of Islam.

Dr. Labinjo expresses the importance of education in Islam and the fact that the first word in the Quran is “Iqra” or “read”. It is in line with this that LEMU desire to provide first-class educational Institutions that would compare favorably with the very best in terms of the academic curriculum, character molding, and a conducive learning environment with up-to-date facilities.”

For clarity and accountability, LEMU provides the financial breakdown of its 20 million Naira Waqf request which is as represented below.

Lemu Schools have 3 sections, each running a special curriculum of studies.

  • LEMU Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies: (a Special Arabic and Islamic studies
    curriculum)
  • Lekki Muslim Nursery and Primary School (LMS) (uses the British curriculum)
  • Lekki Quran Memorization College (LQMC) (a special curriculum for Quran
    Memorization)

Since the inception of LEMU Schools, each section has graduated learners who have completed its curriculum. The LQMC has graduated several Huffaaz (pupils that have successfully finished the memorization of the Quran), with many more students still on the path to completing the memorization of the Quran.
